The Fort Payne Band program consists of two middle school concert bands, a middle school jazz band, two high school concert bands, a jazz band, a percussion ensemble, and the Marching Wildcats. Though the Marching Wildcats are well known, the concert ensembles are the main focus within the Wildcat Band program. Each high school student is placed in one of two concert bands that meet daily throughout the school year. Students have the opportunity to participate in additional program offerings that are part of the high school band curriculum. These opportunities are designed to deepen the music education experience. These offerings include a jazz band, small ensembles, percussion ensemble, pep band, and individual studies. The Wildcat Band program consistently has students placed into District 2 Honor Bands, Alabama All State Bands, and DeKalb County Honor Band, as well as earning individual ratings at Solo and Ensemble events. The concert ensembles are continuously earning superior ratings at State Music Performance Assessment.
Fort Payne's marching band, The Marching Wildcats, is a co-curricular ensemble that all students in concert ensembles participate in. It is also a volunteer organization for colorguard and danceline members. The marching band comprises high school students in the 9th to 12th grades. The Marching Wildcats perform at home and away football games and parades, as well as various marching competitions and festivals. Fort Payne's marching band has consistently earned superior ratings, as well top finishes in competition.
