Mrs. Alana Garrett
Alana Garrett is in her fifth year as Band Director at Fort Payne Middle School. A native of Douglasville, GA, Alana graduated from Robert S. Alexander High School in 2013. Alana attended Jacksonville State University where she was a member of the JSU Marching Southerners and the JSU Chamber Winds. Alana served as a flute section leader for the Marching Southerners in 2015 and as Marching Southerners Drum Major in 2016. While at JSU, Alana travelled in 2016 with the JSU Marching Southerners to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii to perform for the 75th Anniversary of the WWII Pearl Harbor attacks. Alana graduated summa cum laude in April 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Instrumental Music Education. Alana also just completed her Master’s of Music Education from The American Band College through Central Washington University. Alana’s professional affiliations include Kappa Kappa Psi - National Honorary Band Fraternity, National Association for Music Education, and the Alabama Music Educators Association. Alana lives in Rainsville with her husband, Jace
Alana is married to Jace Garrett, another JSU Gamecock and Marching Southerner. Mr. Garrett teaches history at Fort Payne High School, and he is also the Fort Payne High School Band Assistant. When not at school, the Garretts love hiking, attending sporting events, and spending time with their two dogs, Murphy & Louie.
