*If you did not get your midterm Friday in homeroom, you can pick those up in the office at the front counter. Keep in mind that your grade IN POWERSCHOOL is the most recent, accurate grade.
*If you are interested in playing football next year and have not already talked to Coach Elmore, please stop by the ISS room this week and talk to him.
*Volleyball tryouts are next Tuesday through Thursday.
*If you are interested in trying out for Wrestling, check your email for a link to sign up.
* Baseball tryouts are May 12th & May 13th at 3:15 – 5:00pm. See Coach Varnadore to sign up.
*The Fort Payne 3-Position Air Rifle Team won both the North Alabama Rifle League Varsity and JV Championship. Varsity shooters were Barret Bible, Caitlyn O’Shields, Mary Cifuentes, and Dylan Loudermilk. JV shooters were Carmella Cisneros, Lucas Blevins, Thomas Tallent, Bronson Burchell, and Kael Farmer. O’Shields was the league Top Shooter brining home three individual trophies. Bible finished first, O’Shields second, and Cifuentes third in the league consisting of 10 schools and 98 shooters. Fort Payne also defeated 15 other highly competitive teams at the Hazel Green Invitational Rifle Match.
*The Gigawatts robotics team traveled to New Orleans over spring break and competed against 50 other teams. They were awarded the Entrepreneurship Award. This celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit and recognizes a team which has developed a comprehensive business plan in order to define, manage, and achieve the team’s ongoing objectives. In addition, Laurel Shugart became one of four FIRST Robotics Competition members from Alabama to win the Dean’s List Finalist. This award recognizes the leadership and dedication of the most outstanding secondary school students in FIRST®. The Governor’s App Challenge finals were held on 4/18. Laurel Shugart won 2nd place in the high school division.
*Free Sports Physicals will be done on Monday, May 2nd. These are physicals to participate in sports for the 2022-2023 sports seasons. Please pick up a form from your coach or the main office. You must fill out the front of the physical and have a parent or legal guardian signature and bring the form with you to obtain a physical May 2nd.
*Visual Ensemble Auditions are April 29th and 30th this week. Anyone that is interested in joining the visual ensemble (Colorguard, Danceline, Majorette) please see Mr. Pask for more information.
*Spanish Honor society students who were inducted last year your honor cords are here. See Coach Gamez.
*Mrs. Bible has sent you an email about senior exams and exemptions. Make sure you read that.
*Any Junior girl interested in participating in the Distinguished Young Woman of DeKalb scholarship program needs to see Mrs. Barnes this week for important information. You can also email her for more information.
*Northeast has a new opportunity for graduating seniors! The commitment is for 2 weeks this summer, it’s free, and it could lead to a job placement for a career in welding, construction wiring, HVAC, or Plumbing. Seniors, if you are interested, please see Ms. Kirby today.
*If you plan to attend tech school next year you must submit an application in order to be interviewed. If you have not yet completed your application, please do so today. Turn your applications in to Ms. Kirby.
*Seniors, please stop by the guidance office this week to check that your diploma endorsements are correctly recorded.
*Girls and Boys Soccer sign-ups are here in the office.
*Students, if you have not put the PowerSchool app on your phone, you need to do that. You have directions in your email this morning. This app can send you a notification every time a Teacher enters a new grade for you. Remember that PowerSchool is where your official grades are, so if you notice a difference between that and Schoology, you need to tell your Teacher right away.
*The FPHS Spring Blood Drive is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27! Anyone who is 16 or older is eligible to donate! You MUST use this link to schedule your appointment: https://donor.bloodassurance.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/141277 If you are only 16, please pick up a parental consent form OUTSIDE Room 116. (Donors OLDER than 16 do NOT need a form.)

*Seniors, caps and gowns have arrived. See your email and Google Classroom for instructions on how to pick up. You must pay to pick up the cap and gown. Cost is $80. You may pay Mrs. Owens.
*Reminder Students, you must come to the office to check in or check out. If you are late, you must check into the office, Do not just go to class. Also, Do not leave campus without signing out in the office, if you have a parent note to check out.
*All attendance notes need to be turned in to the office first thing in the morning. If you have been absent, you must bring your note to the front office or email notes to Mrs. Vezertzis at kvezertzis@fpcsk12.com Check out notes must be turned into the front office by 10:00am. After 10:00am they will not be accepted. There are students who have already used up their 3rd nine weeks parent notes. You are allowed 3 parent notes per 9 weeks. You will receive a zero for any grade taken during an unexcused absence.
